Hopleys is a special place with a unique atmosphere. Opened in 2012 and set in the heart of the beautiful village of Much Hadham, our Café is a well-established favourite destination for both locals and visitors. Our reputation for providing a really friendly welcome, tasty home cooked food and generous portions have enabled us to grow and thrive. Many of our customers have become friends and we are indebted to our very many regulars for their support and for “spreading the word” far and wide (without being asked!)
Located in a modern barn, and surrounded by a beautiful 4.5 acre garden, the Café has indoor and outdoor eating areas including semi-shaded dining.
We were a finalist in the 2016 Hertfordshire Life Food and Drink Awards which was recognition of our creative use of seasonal ingredients and quite probably our rather sought after cakes! Our food suppliers and partners are all based in the East of England and they provide us with the excellent ingredients that form the basis of our seasonal and daily special menus.
Hopleys Café also provides a great space for a private celebration or special occasion, call us to talk through ideas for your own private function.
Mondays, Wednesday-Friday – 9am-4.30pm (Closed Tues)
Please note that we close for a break in January and February, but re-open for the new season on March 1st

Whilst here in the Long Barn browse Hopleys Shop which is offering a unique and improved range of homeware and gift products. Chosen with care by Tessa, the products offered are both beautiful and useful and include local artisan work in ceramics and painting. Full of surprises, you will find many objects that are perfect for a gift or perhaps simply to treat yourself. Complementing our stunning garden setting, the Shop is also is offering a selection of garden pots and items to enhance your gardens.
In the Courtyard outside the shop and Cafe you will find plants by local growers including The Herb Garden and Meadowsweet Gardens. Both growers are called Jane and they offer a diverse variety of herbaceous plants, including culinary and decorative herbs, bee and butterfly friendly plants, grasses, seasonal bedding and a range of hand crafted colourful bird and insect boxes. We very much hope you enjoy visiting us.
